Vac Master pro 140

If you are in the market for a vacuum sealer vacmaster.com has the pro 140 on clearance in their outlet store area of the site for 79.99 plus shipping. Best price I've seen. Reviews are mostly good and bags seem reasonably priced. I may just pull the trigger on one myself. I don't really need one but at that price I could probably justify having it "just in case". Happy 4th everyone!

Dale, where did you read your reviews?  Sometime back, when I read reviews on it, the ratio of good to bad was too high for my liking.

Checked amazon. Did a google.search and found some reviews.
I don't like that it doesn't have roll.storage. For the price its not bad imho. The shipping to me would be only 6.50.

I have never been a fan of the rolls. I buy 11x16 bags for everyday sealing. I do have two rolls I keep for bigger items, like a brisket!

I just purchased the vacmaster pro 140 off their web site for 79.99 also purchased some quart bags. Since Greg put a good word on them. I was looking at some of the food saver models but the reviews were not good. Too many breaking after a few uses.

Bill the only thing to keep in mind when you first get the 140 is the lid is really stiff. Which means you need to push down until you hear the click on the left side and then again once on the right. Now that I have had mine a while, it seems to shut easier. But if you put a bag and and it does not start sealing press lightly on the right side and off you go.

When I first got it, I called the manufacture and they said this was the norm until you got it broke in.

Nice find on the $80.00, wish I got mine for that price.

I picked up a Pro140 off the VacMaster website last week.  It's in the close out section, along with 100 count bags of various sizes.  8x10" up to 11x16".  Ended up getting three different 100 count packs and all bags have bone protectors in them too.  Sealer and 300 bags for $130!  Have used it multiple times now and works awesome.  What Greg mentions about the lid is valid, but something you just have to watch for, but does seem to be getting better.

I'm still learning about this machine/what is cheap, but keep in mind this site and sellers.

John, all three 100 packs of bags in the VacMaster close out section were between $15-$25 per pack.  Total of $55 for 300 bags of very good quality.  I am very pleased with the sealer and the bags.  8)

Have vacuum sealed several steaks from Walmart that were marked down.  I also took the two pack of Boston Butts that I got from Sams last weekend and vacuum packed them individually.....just to see if I could do it.  Had to go to an 11.5" roll (Ziplock) that I got at Walmart but worked just fine.

Lastly, took Greg's advice and vacuum sealed the majority of the bulk wood that was delivered in the last couple of weeks.  It was unbelievable how well it worked for doing that.

So if you get the Pro140 from the VacMaster website, don't be afraid to give it a work out!  It can take it and you'll have a blast!  ;D

Up to now have been using zip lock bags or freezer paper which is really hard to find in K.C. I think the pro 140 will be much nicer and easier to use. Especially when packaging meats to go in the freezer. Also this has better reviews than the food saver brand. Hey Jeff that is where I purchased mine from, their price beat Amazon's. I added another order of 2 boxes of 11 x 16 bags. I wonder why they have their bags on close out??  :-[

Hey Bill, how's the 140 so far? What size bags do you use most? Is it very loud? I've seen videos on you tube and they seem awfully loud sometimes or maybe I just need to turn down the volumn. Any other info to help me decide whether to buy this vac sealer is appreciated. If you have any rain and cool weather to spare I could use that too! Thanks again.

I used it this evening to package up some brisket. I did not notice it being loud at all just a steady hum. As for the bags they send you an assortment. I use 3 quart bags tonight. I also ordered some bags from them that they had on closeout. I tend to use more quart bags. But, also purchased 2 boxes of 50 gallon zipperbags and 100 8 x 11 inch bags. It seals very good, and seems to work quickly. There is a place on the bottom to wrap the cord so it is out of the way when storing. This is the first vacumsealer I have had and I would buy it again. I do not think you will be unhappy in purchasing it. And since you do briskets, I have seen where Tony/divotmaker uses the rolls and will vacumseal a whole brisket. And from reading reviews on different sealers I think the pro 140 is the way to go. And yes, I highly recommend it to you. If you purchase it and do not like it will buy you a beer.  ::) If I had rain would send you some, now we are supposed to get some next week Thur. Today I noticed 98 on my front porch around 3:40pm, it is just hot and nasty here because of the humidity. But, not like what you all have down your way.

I have had the 140 for about two months now.  There is a little bit of a learning curve.  To lock the lid you must push firmly on both sides at the same time.  You can not lock one side then go to the other because the first side will unlock.  I fought that for 30 minutes before I gave up and called someone.  Second you need to apply a little pressure in the center to help it get a good start on the vacuum.  To me it is very noisy compared to my old food saver but nothing that you can't get used to.  The vacuum is very strong and no waiting, the double seal is awesome.  The pulse feature is something that is great for soft items that you do not want to crush.  At this price point there is nothing that even comes close.  I'm very happy with my purchase.

Try this as I just loaded one in the cart and could have purchased it.
