Updated WiFi Network Question

We got a new internet service and I've had trouble connecting to my SI 5D.  Here's what I've done:
- disabled 5G service to allow for connecting to smoker
- removed smoker from app
- added smoker to app using non-5G service.  Connected to smoker during setup process, but it then loses connection and won't communicate with smoker.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks. :(

Auber is working with the application developer for a fix/update.

Dang.  Thanks.  Any clue how long this has been going on, and where it stands?  Sucks not being able to use app for my sausage smokes.  I don't even know how to use the dang thing manually!

I see we are getting the same kind of traffic around here as last year.  Sad because this could be really good opportunity for SI to blow up.  FB group might help too.  I've learned more about SI smokers on FB sausages groups than I have on here.

Well, I finally reached out to Steve since I'm having zero luck getting my smoker back up and working.  He simply said it's "a problem with your network".  I explained that I was able to turn off the 5G and connect to the smoker but then it would disconnect.  He then said it was a problem with my network.  I then referred him to this post and the app being worked on and he said tht was just for android users and it was a problem with my network.  I then asked for a third time if there was any way to do a factory reset on my smoker so that I could try that route and he didn't respond.  So now my smoker is dead in the water for now.  Frustrating.  Need a freakin' masters degree in Auber to try to figure out how to program that thing manually.  Not sure what to do next, especially since one person will see this post.

I am sorry you are having problems.  The first link is for the controller I THINK you have so check it out. The second link below has some instructions that you may have already found but if not see if they help:

agcrock - see if what is below will help. The table and other notes are in the auber instructions at the links I sent.

Thank you for trying to help me.  I appreciate it.  Haven't had time to try it out yet, but I plan on cooking some sausage on Friday so I'll have to do it before then.  I'll report back with results!

UPDATE:  SUCCESSFUL CONNECTION!

Steps:
- Turn on smoker
- Hold down Set and Timer (button next to it that has the little clock on it) for 5 seconds until blue light above it starts blinking fast.
- Two steps above set the PID back to factory settings.
- Go to app, open up your smoker, click the 3 horizontal line icon on top right, click Device, click Delete Device.
- Turn your wiFi down to 2.4 GHz
- Go back to app and add device.  It will walk you through the initial steps to set up.

It connected right back up for me after the factory reset.  Hope this helps someone else out there.

agcrock Glad you got it working. Took me a bit to get some things figured out too at first, but once it's going it's nice

I bought my 4D Digital WiFi smoker about 3 weeks ago. I got the smoker connected to wifi but the PIC controller crapped out and would not heat up. Steve sent me a new controller. Installed it but would not connect to wifi. He sent me another controller and that one too would not connect to the wifi. I have a wifi extended with 2.4 and that wifi will reach out approximately about 200 feet reliably. Steve also told me that it was "a problem with my network".

Some folks have had to switch wifi settings at the wifi to get the connectivity while others have had no problems from the get go. I understand the desire for the wifi by have you just ignored it and smoked something by punching in the numbers at the controller?

I have but having the Pro 5D Wi-Fi it's so tall and the screen on the controller is angled up like the smaller units you can't see the screen, especially if outside and there is any sun at all. I have to stand on my toes and as long as it takes to toggle through and set up a cook it's not fun, I have to get a step stool to stand on and then you have to hold something to block the sun and shade the screw so you can see. And I am 5'10" tall so I'm not exactly short. It would be helpful if on the bigger units if the screen and control buttons were on the front of the control box vertical instead of on top laying horizontally like it is, that way when you are standing there you are looking strait at the screen plus the sunlight wouldn't was it out either. And for as much as the unit cost (over$4,000.00) it shouldn't be this hard to pair up, I even bought a new Wi-Fi extender to try that. It would be nice if the set up on the screen was a bit more user friendly.as soon as the rain stops I will pull the smoker out and try to pair it up again, I have probably spent over 20 hrs+ trying to get it hooked up with no luck. I have rest everything on the unit, deleted the app, reinstalled it it, bout a new Wi-Fi extender and set it to 2.4. Months sure hop I can figure it out because it a pain in the ass to use the way it is. It takes all the fun out of it.

About all I can say at this point is to get with Steve and /or the folks at Auberins. Either should be able to help.
