Smokin it/ maple syruping

Got the smoker full, with the last of the salmon
I had from Lake Michigan, now it seems it warmed up to fast and the maples
Are not dripping much. Does anyone else tap trees? Smokin it, Boiling sap, brewing beer it's all gonna happen at the same time!!!

I suffered through 60 degree weather today.

Back in my days ( the 50's) of living in New Hampshire, I would help (hinder) my dad in tapping trees  and watching him boil down and make syrup. Except for the bark, I also enjoyed chewing on frozen sap in the winter.

It is far better to have generous friends that do syrup, than to do it yourself.

A buddy of mine taps trees, but with the east coast winter we had the sap has barely started running yet.  I think he has enough to start boiling tomorrow. I'll offer to trade him some ribs for some syrup! ;D
