Since when does fresh mean frozen

Ordered a fresh turkey from a butcher I had not used before. Picked it up yesterday. The turkey was frozen.  The label on the turkey said "fresh" so I guess that covers them.  Needless to say I won't order turkeys from them again.  Oh well ... Off to Publix

Bought a "fresh" Honeysuckle White 14 lb bird at Wallyworld today (for Sunday, when the family gets home).  It was mostly-thawed, but I could tell it was partially frozen.  Should be fine by Sunday.  There were some in the "fresh" bin that were much more frozen than others!

Unless I am buying a true fresh killed turkey from a small farmer in a specialty shop I prefer frozen. If you buy it frozen and you control the defrosting you know what you are getting. However a organic fresh killed free range turkey will be about $4.00 a pound. While most folks flip at the cost, I can assure you it is the best roasted bird you can eat.

Went to Whole Fods today and picked up a fresh (not frozen) turkey breast. Going to smoke it for the people who don't want the traditional brisket for Christmas dinner.
