Wow Tony, nice butt!!! :D :D Sorry, I've been wanting to use that one for a long time.  ;D

Glad you are back to health too.  :)

Does the Integrated PID Digital Temperature Controller offer anything besides preprogrammed temperature changes?  $200 seems like a lot of money in relative terms for the convenience of preprogrammed temperature changes.  Sure the temperature stays set and doesn't vary but, is that really a big deal?

The integrated PID works the same way as the standalone GPH series Auber units.  While it has 8 programmed "recipes" for convenience, it still can be fully-customized.  Just like the others, you can program on the fly, to whatever settings you want.  If you have a favorite program you use for something, you can save it to one of the recipe slots, if you prefer.

The advantage to having it integrated is 1) it's weatherproof, unlike the standalone, and 2) it's integrated (no more separate box and cords to hook up and deal with).

Steve does listen to us!  The smoke box support was a good addition; really makes it stable and keeps it up off the floor.

Will the new smoke box be available as a standalone part?  That looks like a great new feature for the #3.  I always prop mine up with a wad of foil.  I would gladly order an upgraded smoke box if it had the support.

Pretty sure Steve will completely switch over to the new smoke box, even for replacements, Travis.  It is now standard on the #3, so his parts supply will have them.  It really works well!

Could you provide the angle size? Is it a 1" or bigger angle? I can source local ss angle and tig weld it on my box at work. I have been noticing the sag, and this makes perfect sense.

It's unreal how these things work.  I just recently purchased and used my 3D for the first time. After hours of research I chose it not really understanding the digital aspect of the Auber. Once received and i read the manual. It has the capabilities of being able to just hold the meat at temp after the cook . I have never done that before  and seriously didn't know I could. So win win. In comparison to some of the other people's digital smokers, these really stand out with all their capabilities. It is going to take me a bit to completely understand all of its abilities. It is user friendly for sure.

I assume the big benefit is the PID control.  For those unfamiliar with control theory, this helps keep not only tight control (smaller swings as ppl point out), but also keeps that avg. temp closer to the desired value during those cold months.
