Hey y'all Newbie here with a question about using pellets instead of chunks

,I was about to buy a Cookshack smoker literally tomorrow and posted this morning on reddit.com if anyone knew about a better smoker. Well, here I am. I am considering between the 3.5 D wifi and the 4D wifi; I am just a home smoker. I just sold my offset, reverse flow stick burner and wanted to go electric. But I want to use pellets as my flavor source because of the varieties of flavors available. If I line the wood box with foil can I use pellets? will they burn too fast? And if so, how often will I have to refill?
Thanks.

I think the variety is greater in solid wood. It is really hard sometimes to determine what wood is really in the pellets if you get a something blended.
Since the Smokin-It smokers use such a small amount of wood, it really isn't that expensive to use whole wood. I usually use 4-8 oz of wood per smoke.
Search the forum here and you'll find a couple of venders that sell a variety of good wood. That said, I use chunks from the big box stores.

I am really looking for a yes or no answer, not a discussion on pellets verses chunks. That jury has already been decided on at the KCBS comps. Pellet burners win about half of the ribbons.

Doesn't look like it should be a problem...

    THANKS!

Chef BBQ,  I use pellets and have since my first smoke.  If you get the correct chip screen from Steve you won't have any problems.  They burn completely and it is a lot more efficient than having to foil the interior of the box.  You will probably use more weight in pellets than you would in chunks, but they work.
