Hauling smoker on its side?

Heading from Colorado to Indiana for wedding and family time on a lake.  Any reason 3D smoker could not be laid on its side to transport in a minivan?  Other ideas? Thanks.

I had asked Steve (owner) about this previously and he told me that it would not be a problem. I suggested taking the smoke box off of it's rack to prevent undo stress on the support brackets. I travel with my #3 all the time in the back of my truck, but that is upright.

Take out the smoke box and shelf rails, and it'll ride however you can fit it in!  Nothing to fall/rattle except those items.

Personally I would leave the rails in. With the shelves in place, the rails will be held in place and won't cause a problem.

Good point!  I wasn't thinking about leaving the shelves in!  :-[

I always leave them on. I have a roll-top cover on the bed of my truck that I can close up to the smoker and then lock down.

For those considering a smokin-it smoker certainly factor the expertise from the veterans on this forum.  Their help is once again priceless, appreciated and valued.
