Eggs Anyone?

Now That I'm moving to the dark side "Lazy Q" and waiting for my D3,  I want to throw one out to the forum. That's Eggs Anyone? Have you'all smoked raw eggs with your meat smoke, and if so was it successful? As you can see from the photos I have attached I sometimes throw some raw eggs to be smoked on my top rack (away from the meat drippings). You can eat them stand alone or deviled as shown.
Eggs shells are semi-permeable and allow the smoke to penetrate the shell. These were pulled after a 2 hour smoke at 250f.
If you haven't done it I guess I will be the guinea pig and run a batch when I get the D3 up an running.

One of the guys on here (sorry - can't remember who) used to do these with every smoke.  I've never tried it, but would like to!  I've heard some say that they couldn't taste the smoke in the peeled egg...do you?

Yes, a nice mellow smoke flavor is imparted into the whites.  As you can see these were always done in one of my competition smokers. I will be looking forward to how the D3 does with smoking eggs.

I've done them a few times with mixed results. Sometimes good sometimes not so much. They can be rubbery...not good eats in my book. I think the key is to not go too long. I haven't figured out what's the best temp and time to get them right. I like them though.
