Autotune not working

Okay did the bypass and installed permanent probe on my #4 and started the autotune. It's been going about 1 1/2 hours and it's still flashing AT 58 in left window and H in the right, it's about 59 degrees here . Have checked and redid the bypass, plugged the smoker directly into the outlet and it works. The temp actually went up when I did this. What am I doing wrong any help would be appreciated. I know it says just leave it be but isn't this a long time to not be heating up? Thanks Mike

So put everything back together tried running a program without the bypass and the Auber still does not heat up the smoker. The temp gauges work just no heat. :(

Yes checked it several times to make sure. Spent a few hours emailing back and forth with the people at Auber and it's looking as though it might just be a bad relay. I haven't heard back from the last email confirming this though, I think it was quitting time. I will have to say my hats off to those guys at Auber they were on it.

Nope I got am email from them today and was told to send it in for repairs. It ended up being a bad relay.

So here's the reply I received from Auber this morning. These guys have fantastic customer service.

HI Michael,
We got the controller. Here is the story.
When we got it, It didn't even power up. A resistor was broken (probably damaged during shipping). After fixing that, it has not output just as you described. We were not able to nail down the cause yet. Since this controller gave you so much trouble, we are going to ship a new unit today to save the time. Then new unit has been fully tested again before shipping. We will not include new the probes because we didn't get the old ones back.
Thanks,
Suyi

Suyi told me that the huge temp swings I had on my #3 would always occur if I cooked at or within 20 degrees or so of 250F.  Which would be most briskest and pork butts...  I'd like to know if you get the same huge temp swings.  Mine worked for several hours fine, then would start swinging +- 30 degrees up and down.  I believe #3 & 4 have similar controllers so, I would imagine you'd have same problem unless you by pass the controller and let the PID do all the work.

I have a non-bypassed SI#3 with an Auber and hold at 245 plus or minus one degree. I wonder if you have a weak controller.

Smoker controller or PID controller?  Can you hold 250? Give that a try...
