Hickory is what I grew up on, and always my "go to/fall back" choice of wood!

1st smoke with 3D just underway.  Programmed it per instructions included in packet with the smoker.  How can I check the temps without ruining the program?  Also assume time 1 is smoker temp and time 2 is meat? Thanks for the info.

That's right - left window is box temp, right window is meat temp.  Good luck!

Thanks.  Looks like what I was missing to do was hit time button at end which displays both temps.  Was only seeing the #1 temp. Hope it tastes as good as its smelling.

Jack was correct - hard to resist opening the door and taking a look.  1st smoked turned out better than expected.  Nice bark, moist, flavorful.  Am glad I took advise of many and purchased the 3D.  Many benefits to the programer.  Thanks to all who shared info and knowledge.

Jeff, some times a peek is just too hard to resist!  Not the end of the world.   Pretty guilty of it, myself, every now and then.
