Folks:
Looking for some guidance... request you weigh in with a vote and any recommendations on your entry is apprecaited.

Thanks.

Definitely a good sealer is worth its weight in gold!  You'll use it far more than a slicer, and the Tappecue is a "nice to have," but not essential.  I'd be lost without a vacuum sealer!

I would also go with a good sealer before the other two.

If it wasn't for the fact that I already splurged on the Tapp, the sealer would and is my first choice. I HAVE to get one, but I am more interested in seeing what units others use.

I have a food saver. Bought at cabellas 10 or 12 years ago. I suppose it is close to their new professional model or the game saver. Expensive but has never let me down.

The Tappecue is cool and I would get if I had unlimited money. But the sealer is more of a necessity.

I bought a relatively cheap slicer 4-5 years ago for I think $59.99 and it is still working great. I really only use it for slicing jerky meat. For my smoked stuff, I would probably just use an electric knife rather than dirty up the slicer as they can be a pain in the butt to clean thoroughly.

So, my vote is sealer all the way. You can use it for much more than your smoked foods. It will make many of your Costco/Sams purchases where you are purchasing in bulk last longer. The Food Saver bags are night and day better than traditional freezer bags.

I have a relatively new Food Saver that I bought at Sam's 3-4 years ago for $129.99 and it still works great.

My only complaint is that after you seal 7-8 bags in a row, it needs to cool down for a couple of minutes, whereas my parents older Food Saver can go and go without needing to rest. This is really only an issue when we are packaging jerky/stix/summer sausage where we are doing lots of packaging at one time. If my parents sealer ever dies, I think we'll have to invest in a model that advertises quick recovery.

But for my home needs my regular Food Saver works just fine.
