Two belches today on the Deuce!

I boated 4 halves of hickory, totaling 3.5 oz. of Smokin' -It dowels. Combustion came at approx. 25 min. apart. Not newsworthy to get one, just never heard of two on this forum. It's cool though, Happy Independence Day y'all!

I used the trick RG told me about, line the firebox with aluminum foil. Then just place your wood on top, heck I don't even change the foil.

No more belches!

Greg, I do exactly the same thing. Heck I even use the taboo "big box store" chunks and don't have anymore problems with belches.

I just leave the chip screen in all the time and have never had a problem with belches even with HD wood.

The chip screen is something that I have not purchased and not really sure I would use it...

But it is interesting that it cures the belch!

It does for me. I use quite a lot of chips compared to most people on this forum so the screen is helpful-it was a giveaway when I bought my first SI#3. Actually the giveaways were the chip screen, a cover and two cord hangers-Steve must have been feeling generous that day!

Wow...I have never heard of two belches!  That's a record.  Try the foil on the bottom of the fire box and see if that might help out.  The other thing that I have discovered on my #2 is that I now place the wood all the way in the back of the firebox, nearest the back wall of the smoker.  I don't use foil anymore, and I have not experienced combustion since doing this.  I just get a nice stream of thin smoke.
