The Family Grows Again!

Before you congratulate me on having another baby or a grandbaby let me be clear (not trying to sound like Obama, lol) and say that I am not a Daddy again and hope to one day be a Grandpa but that day ain't today!

I have bought another cooker. I know, I know. I am out of my ever loving mind and yes, I may need help. Okay, take the "may" out of it :P

Sometimes you just see a deal too good to pass up and I am a sucker for a deal! I don't want to violate any rules here so I shall not post external links to a potential competitors site but I'll tell you that it's another pellet pooper and I got it for $299.99!! I am pretty stoked about it but my outdoor kitchen has expanded to the deck above it and now this will be the second cooker up there, lol.

Thank the Lord that my Wife loves to cook outdoors and tolerates me :) This new addition brings the total to 7 grills/smokers. Egads!!! Now I do feel like a sicko!! I guess it's all the more reason to throw parties, no reason to run out of food with that many devices cooking!

Can we see a picture of it, Sicko?  ;D ;D ;D  Let me just say, there are a lot WORSE things you could be obsessed with!!

You guys are supporting my habit? Good! lol

Tony, I don't have it in my possession yet to take a picture but you can google it if you like. It's a pit boss 440 deluxe. I got it for $299.99 which I feel is a great deal. If any of you are interested in trying out a pellet pooper to go along with your awesome SI smoker (shameless suck up) then this is about as good of a deal as you can ask for. I won't post a link but there is a famous jingle that will guide you to it. I'll leave the name out and let you guess.

"_________ is the place with the helpful hardware man"

;)

Jason, every time you buy another cooker I hear my wife yelling at me about some new fishing thing that I've bought. My wife supports me in all my hobbies but just enjoys giving me a bad time, I think?  :o

Looks like a Traeger Pellet Grill BBQ155.01 in a different name.

No?

Ace website does have the price you mentioned through the 9th.  No second shelf?

I haven/t puled the trigger on a pooper but I do have a new porch:)

Some say don't bother with these in the cold.

I have a little Traeger that has a 300 sq in cooking grate. This one has 364.25 main grate and it does have a small second grate that is 107.5 so it is a fair bit larger than my little Traeger which is basically the model you mentioned.

As for cold weather, I live in Ga and it gets cold, not NE cold or Great Lakes cold but cold nevertheless. I have had zero issues with my Traeger in cold weather. It has a digital thermostat and does a pretty good job keeping temps in the range of where you set it. This pit boss also goes to 500 degrees whereas my Traeger tops out at 400. I think the hopper on the pit boss is bigger as well.

I'll give an honest assessment one I get my hands on it. Like you said,  the sale runs through February 9th.

Go ahead and post the Ace link, Jason - they're definitely not a smoker manufacturer! ;)

Ok, here ya go!

Alright Jason now i am jealous 7 grills ,i have said it before your a lucky dog.I am still trying to convince the wife that i need a second grill,i like the si cooker but i can not seem to find any for sale in the great white north, and the way our dollar is it would probably be cost prohibitive.MY next choice is a pellet popper thx to your reviews on the one you have.(now 2)

Bob, don't be jealous.....I have a sickness and it should not be looked upon favorably, lol. All kidding aside, I could stand to lose a few cookers, it really is getting out of hand. I think all I really "need" is one keg, my SI and one pellet pooper. Those are all I need to do what I do. The others are just there in case I have a lot of things going at once.

I have, in the past, talked with Rich about BK making an electric and making a Pellet Grill. He had said that they were possibly doing a Pellet Grill in the near future, so that may be an option for you since they're in Waterloo. Shouldn't be too hard to get one and save on the insane shipping from US to Canada.

On a side note, I sent Rich 3 bottles of BBQ sauce and it cost me $56.00 USD!! Crazy! It's the same continent for crying out loud, lol!!!

Sorry SI users, this was a little inside info between 2 keg brothers :)

If you could get your better half on board with an SI purchase, you'll not regret it. It will last you for the rest of your life. The advantages of Stainless Steel! It really is built like a tank, very sturdy. The food it makes is amazing and I'm not just saying that. You know that I have always been a straight shooter, I don't play favorites. The SI matches or exceeds the Keg on every smoke. I can't honestly say that the Keg betters it at all when it comes to just smoking. A lot of folks don't like hearing that but it's true! We have some BGE users on here that'll tell you the same. It just kicks ass as a smoker, plain and simple. If you're into smoking then it's a great purchase, if you're more into grilling and baking, Kamados win by a landslide but that's okay, the SI is a dedicated smoker and that's all it wants to be and I am completely happy with that ;)

So, I got the new kid put together yesterday. It arrived at Ace and sat for days, no one called or e-mailed as they said they would to let me know it was in! I just so happened to call and check on it to find out it had been sitting on their back dock for days! So....I went and picked it up yesterday and assembled it.

Today I am going to burn off the machine oil and season it then I plan on smoking some sausage I made up on it. Once all that is done, I'll report back on it.
