Smoked Pickles

I decided to try something different today, so I decided pickles were on the agenda. I smoked one pickles without topping, the rest I scooped out the seeds and filled. I will post the results later this morning.

Smoked Pickles
Ingredients
• 6 large Kosher Dill Pickles
• 1 cup shredded cheese (I used mix of Cheddar, Mozzarella and Gouda)
• ¼ cup pulled pork
• 2 T bacon bits
• BBQ sauce

Preparation
Cut each pickle in half and then scoop out the insides and then dry with a paper towel. Add pulled pork to half of the pickles and then top with BBQ sauce and cheese. Top the reminding pickles with bacon bit and then cheese.
Smoke for 90 minutes at 250 degrees with 2 oz. of cherry.

Note no water pan for this smoke

Lol Greg, that is wanting to smoke something really bad to smoke a pickle! I'll be interested to know the results of that experiment.

Greg,
You started off with the right idea but here is how to finish.

Hey Dave,

They look good, but the idea was to make them a bit healthier..... :)

I do like the idea of coring them and then stuffing and then plugging the hole with a bit of pickle!

Greg

Well the pickle experiment has been completed :)

As you can see by the photo I ended up just placing the pickles on a rack. It seemed like this would work, but you will notice a few of the pickles fell to their death when they hit the floor of the smoker :(

I thought the pickles turned out great, the BBQ one was my favorite. My better half said, she did not care for any of them. I asked why and she said she didn't like cooked pickles.....

My plan is to share a few with the neighbors. If I do these again, I may use Dave's idea of coring the pickles and then filling them!

I wish I had your door seal.  Mine isn't even close to as tight as yours.

I am surprised how well it works, just once in a while I will get a bit of smoke out the front of the door when closed.

Greg

I never have gotten smoke out of the front door on my little guy. And to close it I have to have the brakes on or hold the back.
