Santa Maria Bone-in Ribeye and Tri-Tip Roast

I've been doing some test runs, this weekend, with the Santa Maria seasoning.  I think I'm getting close!  Both of these are on the Weber gasser, with a big hunk of Smokinlicious red oak.  I'll post the final Santa Maria seasoning, when finished, in the rubs section.  Pretty tasty!  The ribeye was a 1.9 lb Choice steak, and the tri was a 2.9 lb Angus Prime roast.  Both were very tasty!!

Next weekend, I'll do tri-tips in the SI, with red oak, and finish on the grill.  There will also be pinquinto beans and French bread! ;D

Very nice Tony.

Everything you posted looks great.

I also like the Santa Maria Steak Seasoning, the smell of the garlic, pepper and chiles is just right.

Greg

Thanks Greg!  No chilis in this one, though.  Just salt, fresh-ground black pepper, granulated garlic, sugar and parsley.  It's not spicy-hot at all, but very flavorful.

Wow Tony looks great! Can't wait to see your post on the rub. The tri-tip looks pink to the point I would have guessed chilis or paprika so it is interesting that neither are in there.

Hey Tony that looks really good. Just missin a baked potato with the steak.

No baker with Santa Maria tri-tip, Bill.  The big SM BBQ dinner will include tri-tips over red oak, French bread on the grill, dipped in salted garlic butter, and pinquinto beans.  Definitely not "southern" BBQ, but very good stuff!  Scott's right - California Gold! 8)

Guess the lighting was a little off in that pic...it wasn't nearly that red.

Tony, hope it is warmer done your way, this morning was a crisp 56 degrees. And now we are under a burn watch. I think it has been 20 days since any good rain. Have a great weekend

Hey Tony, that sounds like a nice fall day. We finally did get some rain, and supposed to get more tonight. I hope it does not interfere with the ball game. But, has really been dry around here, really would love to see a gentle soaking rain all day and night.
