RTIC vs YETI

Thanks to the tip on the RTIC sale.

1st thoughts on this since my RTIC 45 arrived (65's sold out when I looked).  I have a Yeti 20 with top handle for compare.

Finish on the RTIC is not as crisp as the YETI.  Plastic at spots was scratched.  You could tell it was from Mfg and not shipping.  Seams were not polished off, high spots of plastic remained.  (thats picky)

Pull down closures are not as strong as the Yeti.  Much easier to close elastic on the RTIC than the Yeti.

Gasket does not seem as good either.  Not that it wont work, but you can tell its not a true knockoff.  Less stable looking, came w a few bends at the seams vs the Yeti.

Overall, can't beat the price, free shipping, though not a true knockoff.

All this "stuff" is China made, but not the same factory as though they might want you to think.

Gotta admit the Rtic pricing is much more attractive for what appears to be a cooler of similar characteristics.

I have a yeti 4t and 65, just got  the rtic 65 yesterday.  I thought  the rtic look pretty good, I'll have to put them side by side to compare.

I got my 20 last week and I haven't noticed any manufacturing scratches or high spots on the seams.

I don't have a Yeti to compare, but I'll take a closer look at mine and then look at a Yeti in a store and see if I can tell the difference.

For the price, it is hard to beat. And I don't care how good the Yeti is, I really don't rely on my cooler that much that I would dream of spending Yeti money on a cooler.

I have watched a LOT of comparison videos and I know you have to take them with a few grains of salt. But, I have yet to find one where the RTIC did not match if not beat the Yeti in length of time it would be able to keep ice solid. Even the ones that you could tell were a bit biased toward Yeti, the RTIC usually at least matched the Yeti.

If it comes down to a few scratches and unpolished areas, I am totally good with that. Heck after the first weekend of using mine (haven't used it yet), I am pretty confident in saying that I will be adding a few of my own scratches. :)

I am going to run with this 20 for a while and if I like it, I may spring for a bigger one as I am guessing that they will continue to have sales.

I am interested to see what their new models are going to look like. It sounds like this sale was kind of meant to clean out their inventory before restocking with the new 2017 products scheduled for this Spring.

FYI, on the new products expected for this Spring:
