Roman pork puller

For those of you who find yourselves cooking butts for a crowd I've found a wonderful time and energy saver.  A little pricey for the occasional smoker but I have one and promise it works as well as the demo on this site shows.  Online reviews by others are out there too.

Just my $.02 worth.

Just when you thought it was safe to retire that old battery operated drill.

Neat item! Thanks.

Sweet baby cheeses ... it's like Tim Taylor from "Home Improvement" took up smoking meat ...  ;D

That link also had a VERY nice little backyard rotisserie smoker link ... this makes me all tingly ...

Holy cow!  Back when I was a home builder, my guys called me "Mr Cool Tool."  This little bad boy made my heart skip a beat!  It will be mine....oh yes, it will be mine!

Tony,
Hope you'll share your thoughts with the group once you get one and try it.  Best way is to get a clean and sterilized 5 gal bucket.  Take the meat while hot.  Remove the bone and large clump of fat from the butt and throw it into the bucket.  You can do two at once if you need to.  You can do a butt in about 6 seconds with this beauty.  A friend and myself had 11 butts finished, in aluminum pans and foil wrapped in 10 minutes without hurrying in the least.  Biggest danger is over doing so use caution till you get the hang of it.

Just my $.02 worth.

I may have spoken too soon...at $68.95, I might just stick with manual pullers. :-[  It'd be pretty cool, though, and well-worth it if you cooked a lot at once.  Maybe Steve should throw this in as a bonus with the purchase of a #4?  ;D

That piece of equipment is cool, $70 a bit much. I try adhere to  Alton brown theory no unitaskers. I have a pair of meat rakes works great on pork. It someone buys one provide a review. I always like gadgets.

For those of you who are fortunate enough to have a friend at a machine shop who appreciates BBQ too, you might consider having one made.  All that's required is a round aluminum disk with holes drilled and stainless steel "fingers" epoxied in.  The shaft is nothing more than a 12" drill bit extension.  Only for your own personal use of course since this thing is patented.

Yeah, Jerz, just a little overkill for most of us!  I bet if you were pulling pork for a party of, say, 100 people, it would be just the ticket!

OMG just saw this, how cool is that?! of course I won't spend that much money on it and will most likely talk to my machine shop and see if they can help me make one, for science of course.

I just used Bear Paws yesterday for the first time.  I have to admit that it was pretty fun shredding up those 2 butts.  I felt like a bear digging for truffles.

One thing about the Pork Puller.  My buddy has one and it kind of shreds the pork instead of pulling it.  Don't get me wrong, its still a lot of fun to use, but it's not for everyone.  He stopped using it because it was just about as easy to just shred it with tongs in the pan and made less of a mess.  The other part is that you have to move it to a bucket to shred and it gets all those good juices all over the bucket instead of in the pan with the pork.

Ben, if you were going to modify, maybe finding a way to not over shred the meat would be good.
