I made a batch of jerky the other weekend and with the jerky fan attached and the smoker set to 180 F, the temp would swing up to as high as 210 F. I would remove the fan and it would stabilize at 180 +-3F quickly and would hold it well. But as soon as the fan was put back into place the PID loop would freak out and start swinging widely.
Has anyone else needed to re-tune the PID setting when they were using the jerky fan? And if so how did you go about it and what approximate values did you end up with for each PID setting? (I did read through the manual about adjusting the PID setting so I may be able to wing it on my own.)
