Picked up pork steaks this weekend. Any help with time and temp. would be appreciated. Internal temp to 160? Thanks for the help in advance!

I have not done pork steaks, but I did find this in the pork section.

Good luck with your smoke.

Smokinfan, you may have to clarify what cut exactly that you have. Depending on what part of the country you are in they can be labeled differently. I am guessing what you are calling pork steak, many other people call country style ribs just a guess. Country style ribs are just a Bone in Boston butt that has been sliced.

1+...BTW Grampy how did your smoke go using the generator?

Sorry. These are not sliced butts but instead sliced from an arm roast I believe. Steaks sliced from butts are not as firm as these.

Al that smoke turned out awesome. My wife and a few of the ladies that work for me are members of a local running club and sponsor a  5K race every year at Degray Lake. They have over 700 runners enter it every year so its a pretty big deal. Since the ladies are responsible for the event I got recruited to tow their trailer and volunteered to help set up. (I am not a runner.) Once that chore is complete me and some of my buddies set up our our own tailgating area and drink, BBQ, and BS the rest of the day. This year I took my SI#2 and my portable generator and smoked 3 racks of St. Louis Cut Ribs and some chicken and made pulled chicken sandwiches. Everybody raved about the pulled chicken and the ribs. The smell of the ribs and chicken cooking had people stopping by our tent and asking if we were selling bbq. I had to break the news to them that we were selfish and it was all for us. I even had the opportunity to show off the SI#2 to some other tailgaters out there when they stopped by and questioned what kind of smoker I was using. Had a few interested enough that they may be purchasing one themselves. All in all everything turned out great. Unfortunately we imbibed too many adult beverages and I did not get any pictures before we ate it all up.

I would treat these like a chop.  Pull at 140 or just under and do a quick reverse sear on a very hot grill.

Jimmy, Congrats on your successful outing. Sounds like a good time was had by all.
Tough to beat a good time with great food, good friends and a few brews.
Your idea of using the smoker with a portable generator has intrigued me since you mentioned it and I'm now looking for a generator.
Thanks for a great idea! "Have smoker...Will travel"

Hey Al, check Northern tool for a generator. Just purchased one for my Dad in case of power loss. It seems really good and was not high dollar. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_generators+portable-generators

Hey  Bill, Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Al, I am not sure what all you are looking for in a generator but this is the one I have and it works great! I bought this just to run the lights in my camper and outside lights at deer camp. I have used it for the past 3 years with zero complaints. Having it to use with my SI#2 is just a bonus! Yes, there are better brands out there that also come with a lot higher price. For the money this fits my needs perfectly.

Dave, for the money it is hard to beat. I have been very pleased with it's performance. Like I said, yes there are other bigger name brands out there, but they also come with a lot higher price tag.
