Recently my daughter graduated high school and she was the Salutatorian. She missed Valedictorian by .02 percentage points due to the boy who got Valedictorian having taken 2 more AP classes earlier on in 10th grade. Other than that, she would've creamed him It is what it is so she was runner up. She had the highest SAT score in the county, she's won creative writing awards, she was selected to the Governor's Honors program, really just too much to list. She's a very bright young lady!
She had to write a speech and in typical fashion she waited to the very end to do so. Stephanie (my wife) was on her case everyday to write it and my daughter kept telling her "I'll do it, don't worry, it'll get done". This went on for a while until finally one day she sat down and 20 minutes later, she was done. I didn't read it, I never heard her read it until she read it in front of 2000 people. I was so proud of her, I think she knocked it out of the park.
She didn't say the word "Umm" not one time, she spoke clearly, she showed humor and humility and she never made an error and had to correct herself. Flawless speech, but then again I AM biased
Her friend, the Valedictorian, Ian had to give his speech after hers. He didn't stand a chance. I don't remember not one thing about his speech and I doubt anyone else did either. I felt sorry for him, he's a good kid. People came up to her/us afterwards and said that they'll always remember her speech. I was and still am beaming. We're very blessed to have her as our daughter. I still get misty eyed watching her speech. Crazy I know
Sorry for the bad video at first, I wasn't paying that much attention to the camera ;D
