New to the group..
my. Name is frank, I live in Florida and North Carolina part time
Picked up a used and well seasoned model #1 -4 over the weekend and smoked my first butt 6.18 lbs for 9hrs 13min with 3oz of mesquite chips that I soaked in apple juice ....... simple rub on butt. It was amazing!!!! Love this little  smoker already !!! Has anyone made jerky with out the fan attachment?

Looks like a great first smoke! Congrats!

There are quite a few on here that make jerky. I think there may be a separate topic area for jerky that you could check out to see what your thoughts might be.

That said, if you decide you need a fan, there are some posts on here for DIY style fans that cost you about $25 in total. I made one for myself that I use for sausage and salmon. It seems to work pretty good.
