Just don't.  Treated for bugs, rot, fungus, and may have toxic tropical hardwoods resembling more familiar bbq friendly wood mixed in. Free is not always good. 'nuff said.

With as little wood as these units use, the cost of wood shouldn't be a factor in what to use. I used the wood that came with mine and then tried some different kinds from the local big box stores. I have had good luck with the chips from walmart, especially the cherry, and one bag lasts a very long time.

I agree only the best for my #3.

Going to place and order for some wood at maine grilling woods.

I want to get some cherry, hickory.

I would hope no one would use wood from a pallet.  I regularly used it in years gone by to build things for around the house.  The, in Wood Magazine, I read an article about the toxicity of certain species, either sawdust (wear a mask) and in the smoke should you burn it in a fireplace.  So I though I would pass along.  Just in case!
