Outdoor Kitchen

I've been tossing the idea around of building an outdoor kitchen. For those of you who have one, what would you consider the absolute basics needed to have a functional, usuable space? I don't have a huge area to work with, and I don't want anything fancy, just a place where I can safely prepare a meal in my backyard.
Thoughts?

Michelle, I'm not a have one yet but am designing mine in my head now.  I want a refrigerator, a small sink and some counter space.

Counterspace is a must. Prep areas are the most impactful thing in my opinion. Other than that, if you can make some storage areas that will help you too. Drawers, cabinets, shelves. All come in super handy. Like Dave says, a fridge and sink are great but keep in mind, you can't run a sink drain just anywhere and providing plumbing to an outdoor sink will not be cheap. I know this because I am a plumber, lol.

I have no sink or outdoor fridge but I do have power in the island and a little storage space. You can see what I did here : RG's Kitchen

My sink will be hose bibb supply and a waste bucket.  Maybe even a blue, portable RV waste tank on wheels.

I guess that's one way to do it! Definitely the cheapest way I know of ;)
