I had $68.00 left on a rewards card that expires today so I ordered 2 of the Spare ribs and 2 of the Gourmet Hotdog packs.

Figured I would splurge seeing the card was a freebee.

Wishing I could afford this...maybe someday :'(

Don,

I am real interested to see how you like there products. I also have been looking at the brisket. But later this year (when I am not on the road weekly) I plan to order a brisket from Creekstone Farms, this is where Aaron Franklin buys his. You can get a 12-14 lb. brisket delivered for $119.00.

That's some nice looking meats Greg, might have to give them a try when I get extra cash.

For you guys looking at expensive briskets, take a try at a beef shoulder clod.  Excellent end product at 1/2 the price.

Do they have them at Sam's club Dave and is that what I ask for, a "shoulder clod". I will check that out, thanks.

Don, that is the correct name.  I've seen it a couple of times at Sam's but a conversation with your butcher will help also.  Most butchers split shoulder clods into a variety of other cuts.  You might be able to save a little money by getting the shoulder straight from them without them having to cut it down for packaging.  Typical clod is going to be 17 - 20 lbs.  (Large brisket size)

Dave,

No butchers close to me, closest is about 50 miles. I will check and see if RD has them or maybe Costco?

Thanks for the info Dave, I will stop by the butcher and see if they have any clods. I'm sure they must because they have accommodated me on everything in the past.

We splurged and had the Snake River Wagyu/Kobe cross earlier this year and I was not impressed. Tender yes. Cooked faster also. Just did not seem like it was worth the extra coin.  Gonna try that Creekstone brisket when the funds improve  8)

That's really surprising!  I thought a Wagyu/Kobe brisket would be incredible (though well out of my price range).  I once had the opportunity to eat at a real Kobe steakhouse, on Okinawa, and it was incredible!  Only time, in my life, I've had real Kobe beef, and I still remember the experience...wow!

Received the Spare ribs from SRF yesterday and I must say I am very disappointed.

These are some of the saddest ribs I have seen. There is barely any meat on them. You can get much better spares at your local super market. Sam's clubs ribs blow these poor excuse for ribs away.

I am really p*ssed off right now.

They look nothing like the did in the picture, it really is just a rack of bones.

I threw them in the freezer for now but I will put up pictures when I take the out to thaw.

Here is what they are supposed to look like from there web site. Wait till you see these really sad ribs they actually sent me.

Hey Don those are some nice looking ribs in the picture. Are these the ribs that you received? I love the ribs I get from restaurant depot. Also Sam's club has really good ribs.

They do look similar to the picture above except the ribs I received was lacking the meat. >:(

They sent me two racks of rib bones. When I go to cook these I will post up picks of the ribs they sent. Believe me you will be shocked.

Hey Don, that is a shame, if I was you would print out a picture and send it back to them along with a complaint letter. Hopefully they will taste good but without much meat that will be a challenge. I hate the fact that Sam's puts 2 slabs of ribs together. As in the past have pick up a really good looking slab on top and the bottom one had less meat.
