Old Smokey 22

Anyone have an Old Smokey 22”, charcoal grill?

Looking to add something to the spring arsenal to pair with the Weber gas and the SI we have.

Seems basic, but heck its only charcoal!  Who needs a $1000 green machine?  < “egging” people on for comments>

Be nice if they had flip up sides on the grate, but the Weber 22 should fit for minimal dollars.

Cheap and almost “nice looking/odd” , but by the time you add legs, thermo and extras its close to the Weber basic price.

Cheap metal construction?

PS Steve needs a charcoal line, but I’m sure there is a lot on the plate!

I LOVE to grill with charcoal and have a Little Smokey that gets used heavily during the summer camping season.

But, a charcoal smoker doesn't interest me in the least. They have a pretty big following and I think do an awesome job of smoking, so I am sure you'll get some responses from some charcoal smoker owners.

Steve did have a charcoal grill a few years back.  It was simple, had a swing out rack that you could raise and lower over the coals. If memory serves me correct, it was circular and the racked pivoted on an arm. There may have been two racks.  It has been awhile.  I seem to remember the price being around $100, but I could be wrong.  He may have some old back stock.  Worth checking into.  I'll check the WayBack Machine and see if it is archived.

UPDATE:  $199.00

Enjoy,

Neat looking charcoal firebox, thanks.

I guess my comment about making a charcoal was more along a brand line note.  Considering how many here love the SI and what it does.  Akin to if Weber made a vacuum cleaner or set of kitchen flatware people would buy it because of the name.

Nice link to the time machine, Dave!  Hehe.  Yeah, that was pre-Smokin-It days.  With the move to MI and all, bet he doesn't have any more of these, but would be worth checking, if someone wanted to!

Thanks Tony.  One last link from the WayBack machine showing the Models 1, 2, and 3.  Notice the differences?

Tony - And he added the laser logo and the LED to signal that the element was on/off. Hard to believe that in a couple of short years Steve and Smokin-it have risen to their current height. Top notch quality and continued improvements combined with 1st rate customer support, a loyal following and of course your hard work as administrator has paid off big time.

Dave, you're right!  I didn't notice the light and logo, either!  Lots of great things around the corner for SI - thanks to the loyal, and quickly-growing, customer base!  If the units weren't good, none of us could have kept this forum going!  All the thanks is to the loyal owners who take the time to join us here!
