New 2D

Just got my new 2D smoker and seasoned it. Am I just not reading the instructions correctly?  Cause I'm not understanding them. Not sure I care about the preset stuff. I just want to set the smoker temp,monitor food temp and learn to set the timer for cooking the meat. What am I not understanding?  Is there a video that makes it simpler to understand?  Thanks

I have an older 3 D and cook only to temp or time.  No other programming or pre-sets and ramps etc. I zero out what I do not use. Also, I have the instructions at the smoker each time I use it. Sad but as with vcrs and our cable box, I do not find digital gadgets intuitive.  Wish I could help. And the instructions are not as simple as they could be.  Screen shots and arrows and text all add up to confusion on my end.
