Delivered. Unpacked. The seasoning process has begun.  Very slight changes at set point of 250 degrees (+/- 3).

Congrats, Joe!  Don't worry about monitoring the temp with an empty box.  That's pretty close, but with no heat sink in there (meat), it has to work hard to maintain the temp.

Congrats and welcome from ND Joe!

I'm surprised that the temps were even that close with an empty box.

You are in for a load of fun my new smoking friend.

Thanks guys.  Seasoning is done!  Quick question.  Is there a different way to turn off the beeping that starts at the end of a cycle other than turning the unit off via the power button?

Joe, you can turn off the end alarm, if you'd like, but the easiest way is to hit the power button.  If it's done, no reason to leave the power on.  The Auber manual for the standalone unit, that works the same way as your controller, has all that in it (Attached).

Thanks Tony for attaching the manual.  I was thinking ahead.  For example.  If I did a time smoke (ribs) and for whatever reason I needed to add an extra half hour or so to get the meat where I want it.  I figured it would be easier to turn off the beep rather than turn the whole unit off and then reprogram the extra half hour or so.  Hopefully I am making sencse.

Joe, you can set your own program, or even change it "on the fly," no problem!  Once you get used to the simplicity of the controller, you'll see it's not that hard to customize.  Just remember the 3 steps of each "step" in the program:  What box temp?  What's the trigger (time or internal meat temp), and how much/how long?  If you need help, just ask!  Some of us have used Aubers for years before the D models came out.  I was part of the design team on the Ds, so I'm pretty sure I can handle whatever you might throw me! ;)

This was helpful.  I just got my new 2D and did the 4 hour burn in by setting the time cycle.  After looking at it every 5 minutes for the first 2 hours, I decided to relax.  I strolled out to make sure all was well and shut down after 4.5 hours and the 2D was beeping away...feeling neglected.  It also might not have been the best sound for my neighbors, as this unit is on my balcony.

Live and learn.

Cheers
