While replacing the worn out faceplate on my analogue unit I stumbled on some ideas to eliminate to problem of no longer being able to read the temp dial numbers. These are easy mods from the factory
1) add a 1/4" ID by 3/8" OD stainless washer over the knob post. This shims the knob higher so it doesn't contact and wear out the faceplate graphics
2) apply a protective film such as automotive PPF to the faceplates. This virtually weatherproofs and scratch proofs the lettering
3) if #1 and #2 above are not feasible, simply sell a durable sticker to re-apply to an existing faceplate (rather than having to replace the whole metal plate)
