Wireless thermometer set model # ET-732 made by Maverick Industries

I have read several reviews on this and I want to know if this is the best way to go or is there another brand with a remote?

Thanks;

Great unit, Rod - own it, and have never had a problem with it.  They're pretty cheap, now that the 733 and 735 are out.  Simple, with all the functions I need.

In your reading of reviews, was the 732 the one with the on/off switch under a screwed on battery cover plate?  I have a 733 and find that the remote isn't a real important thing for me.  If you find that you don't really want to monitor from long distance, a cheaper way to go is to buy a couple of single probe Mavericks.

No - switch is not under a battery cover, it's easily accessible.  IMO, the remote reading is the point!  You can certainly get cheaper units that you have to go check, but why?  Just doesn't fit my Lazy Q lifestyle, especially with hot weather approaching!  :o

Thanks, I just took my second unit back to Gander Mountain. The range was suppose to be 30ft however; it was about 8ft. I will order one tomorrow.

This is the unit I went with also. I just did not see needing all the bells and whistles of the 733 and 735. But, am thinking about purchasing a second meat probe.  And not really monitor the temp. of the smoker just let it do its thing. But if doing two Boston Butts can monitor each of them. This makes more sense to me. Or two other types of meat that the IT is of importance.  :D
