Looking to pull the trigger

Ok so i'm new around here. Just recently found the forums and the Smokin it product line a few days ago. Been doing a lot of research and reading of forums everywhere and I have decided this is my next purchase for sure. So I only have a few questions on which one at this point. The choice now is between 3 and 3d

1. I will mainly be using this to smoke kielbasa. Will I NEED the sausage fan out of the gate to have this smoker function well enough to make great kielbasa?

2. Kielbasa isnt the only item I will smoke but it is the most important to me. I have very little experience and/or knowledge of smoking butt, ribs, etc. but will try for sure. With the limited knowledge I have does it make sense to spend the extra for the 3D? Is it that user friendly that I will figure it out and find a lot of use to it. Will I kick myself later if I get the 3 or will I even notice the difference?

3. From what I understand, correct me if i'm wrong, the range of error for temperature in the 3 is +/- 40 degrees. But with the Auber its as low as +/-2 degrees? Is this correct? If so that seems like a good enough reason there.

Thanks in advance for your responses and I look forward to taking the leap later on today.

I cannot speak to sausage making but on the subject of the 3 versus the 3D if you have the money go with the D. The temperature is much more accurate and the flexibility in programming the controller to handle different temperatures automatically. However, there are a great many owners of the non-D models who get great food and the temperature swings have no adverse effect on the final product.  Pretty much comes down to budget.

I think you are going to want the dryer for your sausage. Without it there is too much moisture in the box and you end up steaming the sausage instead of smoking it.

woo hoo! It came today so time to get this thing seasoned. I have plans for tomorrow now that's for sure. Then ribs and pulled pork this weekend. Can't wait.
