Looking for the best list of factory accessories?

I'm looking to get me an electric smoker, so I have decided on the Smokin-it #2.  From the manufacturer's website, here is a list of what I am looking to order with it.  Let me know if what I am looking to buy is a good idea or not needed.  I will mostly be using the smoker for ribs, brisket, butts, and ham in that order.  I will also try a turkey in it, but really love the way they come out in my SRG (only about 2.5 hours for the juiciest and tastiest 22 pound bird).  Here is a list of my planned initial order:
1. Model #2 smoker
2. chip box insert. (I use chips in my SRG so I don't have to have a bunch of different wood)
3. Miss TK's drip pan
4. Rib Rack (2 of them)
5. Cover.

Thanks,
Chuck

Your smoker will come with a drip pan, so no need to order one.

A good dual probe thermometer if you don't already have one as well as a digital scale are pretty much necessities. These smokers use very little wood and most of us weigh our wood in ounces with no more than 6 ounces for the longest smoke. Only 2-3ounces for ribs is all you will need.

Hi Chuck!  Gregg's right - omit #3 (unless you want 2 pans).  I have the original Big Easy, so it doesn't smoke, or take larger than a 13 lb bird, but it does make a pretty tasty turkey.  It sits idle now, because turkey smoked in my #2 put it to shame!  Much better, in my opinion.  Yours adds smoke, so it still may be better, but mine doesn't.

However....nothing produces great Q butts, ribs, roasts, briskets, prime rib, etc... like the SI!  You'll love it.

You may be set up already, but I would also recommend a digital kitchen scale to measure wood, and a remote thermometer (like the Maverick ET-733).  Both of those are not "nice to have" items, they're pretty much essential.

Let us know how we can help, and good luck!

These guys covered what I would suggest. I ordered the cart with mine and I really like it so far. Good luck with your purchase and enjoy!

+1 on the cart - forgot that!

Already have the Maverick thermos, but hadn't thought about the scale.  I have an analog one, but will get a digital one soon.  As far as the cart, I don't need it for my plans at the moment, and I will drop the pan.

Thanks for the suggestions,
Chuck

You can get some smoke in there pretty easily plus increase the cooking efficiency of the Big Easy.  You put a spring form cake pan without the bottom of the form in the bottom of the cooker.  Put wood chips around the outside of the form.  Your basket will sit right on the form and raise it about 2" which raises the food into the better cooking zone of the unit.  It's not the same as a smoker's smoke but still gets some good flavor though.
