KNOB ADJUSTMENT QUESTION

I am attempting to adjust the knob on an analog and I am not sure how much force to use to get the knob apart. If anyone has done this before can you give me a pointer as I don't seem to be able to accomplish this seemingly simple task.

Copy and Paste from instructions:
You can adjust the temp settings up or down on a Smokin-It smoker
ü Remove the thin cap off the black temperature control knob by using a thin screwdriver
ü Remove the black control knob from the smoker by lifting straight up
ü The black control knob has a knurled center part you can push out by using a flat head screwdriver Please note this part has a small arrow indicator on it to show its current position before you remove it
ü By rotating this part to the right or counter clockwise it will increase the temps
ü Start with moving it around 90 degrees and placing it back into the knob

Thanks

Finally used my scratch all to get her pried up. Did an adjustment and now running a test again. Set temp at 175 for first run to see what swings are now. Then will do 200, 225 and 250. If swings prove out a close average to set we will call her done. Just didn't want to break that plastic. I would not make a good surgeon.  Thanks

Best of luck.
Thanks Good Man! Thanks for the tip to at least get the knob apart. Still working on the adjustment. I seriously sometimes think I had more time before I retired. Too many projects going on.

Thanks again David and Hank. I was finally able to get it adjusted where it averages about 10* above the set point. This will make a great first smoker for my son. Cycles high and low with a little wider swing than I thought but it is very consistent. Staying cool now with these Texas Highs.
