Kellers BBQ Lake Mary FL BBQ (Orlando Area)

When traveling I like to eat at non chain restaurants, so on this trip I decided to try the local BBQ.

This is a family BBQ that has two restaurants and has good ratings on TripAdvisor.

For dinner I ordered (just sampled most) Brisket, ribs, mash potatoes and gravy, green beans, french toast and baked beans. Total price (take out) with tip $24.00, lot's of food for the dollar.

Overall the food was not bad, but it made me realize how good (just saying) stuff we make at home and in our smokers.

First I tried the brisket. The smoke flavor was very mild and it was overcooked, almost pulled. The ribs, smoke level was fine, but too much chew. The beans which the waitress said was great because it had bacon was really bland.

The beans were good and the mash potatoes with gravy was good.

I almost forgot the offer different sauces, I tried the spicy sauce, really spicy and the sweet sauce, which was super sweet. I think if you combined the two sauces, you might have a hit!

Hey Greg looks like the ribs had a nice smoke ring. What about the green beans as they looked bland? The mashed potatoes looked really good.

Yea the baked beans were good, but the green beans were overcooked, mushy and really had no flavor. The ribs did look good, but were under cooked and did not pull away as they should.

Oh well, the good news is that work buys my meals on the road!

Well, that is always a good thing. Just outside of the Naval Air Base entrance in Jacksonville. There was a little dinner, I think it was called Thorny's, had really good breakfast meals. Their grits was out of this world. Not even sure if it is still there. They had 2 booths and a bar with 6 or 8 stools. At night after the bars closed there would be a waiting line outside.
