Just got my 2D - seasoning

Just received my 2D smoker. I have read instructions on seasoning but want to hear from the experts what is the best way to season the smoker.

Load it up with 3-4 of the hickory wood chunks that you received with your smoker and run it for 4 hours at 250.

No need to leave the racks in and no need to foil the bottom or the box for this process.

Really that is all there is to it. Then get some meat ready for the real dance. :)

Congrats, Coach!  Not sure if you're referring to the instructions in the box, or on the site.  I wrote the instructions, here, so that's what I recommend. ;) :D

OK, all kidding aside...

Put in 3-4 chunks of wood, with nothing in the box except the side racks and the smoke box.

Turn the power switch on.

Press SET, and hit the + button to dial 250 in the right window

Press SET again, and press - to set "t" in the right window

Press SET again, use + to put 4.0 in the right window.

Cycle through the SET button until you get through step C06, and temp is displayed in the left window.

At this point, you are seasoning!  Let it run the 4 hours and shut it off.

Hey Tony, I wouldn't bother putting the side rails in for seasoning, unless you never plan to clean. I usually throw those in the dishwasher along with the racks. If you don't clean, then whether they are seasoned or not seasoned doesn't seem to matter either.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter.  I don't clean mine, except maybe once a year with some E-Z Off.  Only reason to leave them in, during seasoning, is they're already in there. ;) And, a little seasoning preserves them.
