I just had a revelation!!

While sitting at the awful waffle this morning, eating Valentine's Day Cheese & Eggs with the wife, I checked in on the progress of the brisket that I have smoking in the #3 via my Tappecue and thought to myself how COOL it would be if there was a way to not only monitor the temp from afar but to also have CONTROL over the cook! If an auber could be made to not only be wi-fi like the tappecue but also allow you to raise/lower the temp of your smoker remotely. That would be freakin' awesome would it not?

If your grub is getting done a little too quickly and you want to slow the pace down a tad, drop the SI to 200°. If it's taking longer than expected and you need to feed guests before it'll be done at it's current temp, raise it up. All while you're at the Gym, Shooting Range, Grocery Store, etc....

And of course you can still have it programmed to drop to 140 to hold, all adjustable on the fly remotely. This needs to be a reality!!

I have a personal rule that I can be gone for the first half of the smoke but no controls in the world keep me from being there for the second half.

I asked that same question a while back.  My son owns a Green Mountain Grill, pellet smoker which uses his home wifi to do just that, from anywhere in the world where he has wifi or via his phone wifi, he can control the GMG, it's cool!
Time for the Auber folks to come to the 21st century 😀👍

The Anova app (for the sous vide cooker) does that.  Even away from the house, it finds my cooker on the home WiFi, and allows you to change times & temps.  Very cool!  I know Steve is looking into WiFi and/or Bluetooth for the D models, but none of us have thought about an app for control!  Thanks for the spark of creativity, Jason!

Well I feel good knowing I am 2 for 2 on ideas  :P

At some point, you are going to need to come home to eat the food! ;D ;D :o

That being said, an app, with control over setting temperatures, as well as a capability to graph the cooker temp and food internal temps for the course of the entire cook is already being done out there by others in various ways. So adding that to the SI would be a nice thing.

Yep. I love the tappecue for the monitoring of 4 probes and graphing, if I could add smoker control to that then that would be awesome.
