I am about to go to my FIRST Braves game since 1982

Crazy huh? I am not a baseball fan, at least not in the sense that I can tell you who is good and who stinks. Well, that's not entirely accurate as I DO know that the Braves stink and have stunk for quite some time. Long gone are the days of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. No more Fred McGriff (The Crime Dog), Terry Pendelton, Ron Gant, Chipper Jones, Andrés Galarraga (El Gato Grande lol).

I have never set foot inside of Turner Field. The last Braves game I went to was at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium which they used to share with the Falcons. Since this is the last year of the Braves at "The Ted" I figured what the hell, might as well take in a game while I can. I've heard it's a wonderful stadium. I am not sure why they are tearing it down and moving the Braves out of Atlanta. They are moving to Cobb County, much further North. It is still considered part of "Metro Atlanta" but I think it's a shame that they are leaving Atlanta Proper. Bad business on the city for allowing them to leave. The Mayor of Atlanta is a dolt and the Braves basically gave him the middle finger when he tried to play hardball, no pun intended.

I got some cheap seats, $33 each for me and the wife sitting behind the Dodgers bullpen. It's a 12:10 start so I am taking the day off and enjoying a nice afternoon at a game. Should be fun, win or lose. Since I am not a fan, I don't care really who wins but I guess you always pull for the home team so GO BRAVES!!

I was a Braves fan when I was a kind when TBS network first came out and Braves games were on all the time.

Some other names (showing my age) that I was a fan of as a kid were Dale Murphy, Fernando Valenzuela, and Bob Horner.

Have fun at the game!

I had fun, the Bravos lost in the 10th inning for a second day in a row vs. the Dodgers. Good time at the Ted today. I don't understand why they think they need a new place, this stadium is very nice. The way they're playing doesn't warrant a new place IMHO ;)

But how was the food!

It was okay. There's this REALLY froo froo place in Atlanta called Holeman and Finch that has this cult following for their burgers. Check it out Here and Here

As luck would have it, they have a place in the Commons area as you enter the stadium, which is directly behind the outfield wall. It's called H&F Burger. I've never had it so I said to the better half "Ya wanna try THAT?" smiling as I said it. She wanted a dog but decided to give the burger a go. It was a double patty cheese burger topped with a couple of pickles and THINLY sliced red onions. It came with an order of fries as well as 2oz cups of mustard and house made ketchup. $14.00 each so $28.00 for the 2 of us. We don't drink regular soda and all they had was aluminum bottles of Coke Classic so I found a bench to sit at and she went and bought us 2 souvenir cups of Coke Zero for $8.00 each so $16.00 for Coke!!! It came with one refill which neither of us used.

Was it good? Nah....not really. We both ate every bite but for freakin' $28.00 you damned right I'm eating it all, lol. While in the park, the calls for "Ice COLD Beeya" eventually got me and I bought a 20oz can of Yuengling for $8.00 and gave the old dude a $10 and told him to keep it.

THEN.....on the way home we decided to go pick up a pizza from a pizzeria we haven't eaten at in a long time. Large pie with pep and canadian bacon $20.00. So, including the tix (which were CHEAP for where we sat mind you) I spent $150.00 for us to have good seats, parking, lunch at the ball park, a beer and a pizza for dinner. Not bad for a full day of entertainment with my best girl ;)

We sat behind First base behind the Braves Dugout. Not bad for $33.00/ea including junk fees!

Wow Jason, looks like you had a beautiful day at the park. And you got to spend it with Mrs. RG to boot! Way to go!

Indeed Bob! It was a great day, Stephanie (Mrs. RG) is already talking about doing it again soon but I'm sure it'll be a night game as that sun gave us a nice burn! You think we'd have been smart enough to bring sun screen. Nope!
