Howdy fellow smokers from North Central Texas

I have to say I am just loving this community. I've been cooking on a 8 foot 400 lb stick smoker I built about 17 years ago. I had just gotten to the point I was tired of spending all day and part of the night on my Saturdays baby sitting it. Ive put out some good Q over the years but just as often put out meat that was over cooked. I started looking and comparing electric smokers about a month ago and almost purchased a Master Built unit when I ran across the Somkin-it product line and this forum. After seeing the quality of the Smokin-it line and spending about a week reading the forums I ordered a 3D. I've had it about a week and am currently 13 hours into my 3rd Smoke today on a 9# Boston Pork Butt. I am amazed how tight the 3D is able to hold the temps. + or - 1 degree. It took me a few days of fiddling with the PID programing to get it but once the light went off I had it down {LOL}. I have to say I am just loving the 3D unit. Baby Backs and whole chickens were nothing short of wonderful. So at the moment I have been into the stall a couple of hours on my Pork Butt and its currently at 172* meat temp and is moving up about 4 degrees a hour. I think some amazing sandwiches will be had tonight! I think the 3D is a investment that will bring a lot of joy in my life and time for other things I have missing out on. Thanks to Smokin-it and all the members that are responsible for this great Forum !!

Welcome.  I almost bought a master-built smoker too, but luckily I found this forum.  After a little reading I ended up with the 3D too.

Welcome from the Hudson Valley. And yes, it is easy to fall in love with the SI. These units are terrific, as is the Q that they can produce.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. I really look forward to being a part of this lifestyle :P On a very sad note, If you all could keep my fellow Texans just north of me in Dallas in your prayers I'm sure it would be appreciated. I know there's a lot of families really hurting a right now.  :-\
