Help

Finally Smokin

New member
Just received my model 2d. I put in the wood followed the directions for the first step but after only 1.5 hours it read end end.  I tried starting the process over but the green light just keeps blinking.  It did smoke well for the first hour and a half.

I think I'm just a little confused.

Please help.

Hi Roland!  Congrats on the 2D!

When you turn the controller on, you press "Set."  You'll see C1 in the left window, and numeric digits in the right.  Hit the + or - button to get the right window to read 250.  Press Set again, and you'll see e1 in the left window.  This is the "trigger."  It can be t (time) or F (temperature); use the +/- buttons to select "t" for time.  Press Set again.  You will see t01 in the left window; use +/- to set 4.0 in the right.

When you press Set again, you will be to the second program, C02.  Make sure that C02 through C06 is set to "t" as the trigger, and everything else zeros.  This will now run the smoker at 250 for 4 hours, then shut off.

I unplugged it and tried stating over after an hour into it.  I didn't open the door.  The left says 248 the right says . 9

Can I start over or does it have to run through the program.

If you turn it off, and back on, it will start the program from the beginning.  The right window is showing time (9/10ths of an hour).  You can change the program, on the fly.  Just press SET and check the program, and adjust accordingly.

Okay I did start over after I unplugged it.  Not much smoke though,  might have used it ip in the first hour.

Should I do it all over again with more wood tomorrow?

Thanks for your help..

Roland, seasoning is to remove the machine oil smell from the new steel, and coat the interior of the smoker.  Might not hurt to run it again, as it really needs a good 3-4 hours at 250 to get it done.  How much wood did you use?

Run seasoning again, and use 3-4 chunks.  You can't put too much in, during seasoning.  The idea is to get the smoke going the whole time.  You won't ruin any meat in the process. ;)

Good news. Did the seasoning again and was able to run it for four hours this time. used 4 chunks in it. I believe I've got is seasoned well now and do understand the Pid controller better..

Thanks for the help DivotMaker.
