Hello From Earlville, NY
Looking to buy an Electric Smoker and install in my Basement. I had been looking at Smokin Tex , Cookshack , and Pro-smoker. Then I found Smokin it. Any thoughts or concerns? Do any of you use this for roasting with no smoke?

Welcome from the Land of Enchantment!

Like you, I was also looking at Smokin Tex and a Cookshack, until I found the Smokin-it 3D!

I have not used it as a roaster, but I have used it as a warming oven/holder for some food by dropping temps to 140. A cambro of sorts.

What size are you looking for?

Even using the smoker without wood, I think you will still get smoke from the drippings landing on the wood box.
If you are going to use wood, you will need to figure how to make a vent to exhaust the smoke from the basement.

So I have a questiion. What is the auber pid? Is this best used with the analog smoker? I'm guessing the digital and the wifi versions have it built in?

I have not roasted or baked in my 3DW, but I have used it as a warming oven with no wood. It worked great and did not impart any smoke flavor to the food.

The Auber unit is an aftermarket temperature controller that can be used with the older "analog" smokers.  The analog controller must be bypassed when using the Auber.

You are correct that the digital and WiFi models have this functionality built in to the smoker.
