First cook Ham and Bacon

My first cook on the 3D was Ham with a Orange Marmalade and Cranberry Glaze and the Classic Bacon. I'm still unclear about how probe 2 and probe 3 works. Do I need both hooked up at each cook?
Anyway the ham was so moist, my husband loved it. And the bacon was really good. Today we are smoking a summer sausage, putting the smoker through 5 steps.

Congratulations on your first smoke -- and by all indications, a successful one! The ham and bacon pics are making my mouth water! I think you are up and running now! Cheers
 
Congrats. One probe will react with the controller for a given set temp. The other just registers the temp and will not turn off the smoker or go to a keep warm mode.
