Does 2 butts take longer to smoke then 1 butt?

Both butts are about 6 3/4 pounds each and are boneless. Just curious how much time I should allow for these to get done.

I agree with Brian - I always err on the side of caution and allow 2 hours/lb.  While I typically don't need 2 hours, it's better to finish early and allow more rest time than to be pacing the floor 15 minutes before dinner wondering why I have not reached the desired IT!  Also, be sure to allow at least an hour extra for the rest period...foil wrapped and in a cooler with towels.  Good luck!

Also if your butts get done way to early, like mine did last time do the following:

Pull at 190 degrees add a bit of juice (optional) double wrap in foil and set smoker to 140 degrees. Pull once again two hours before you want to eat and place in a cooler with towels on top.

In answer to your original question, no.  Take the largest butt, multiply it's weight by 2 hours and you've got your target time.

set smoker to 140 degrees. Pull once again two hours before you want to eat and place in a cooler with towels on top.

If the butts are in the smoker on 140 and you have two hours before meal time leave them in the smoker and remove and pull immediately prior to service.
