Dehydrator + Smoking?

As a wedding present my mom got us an Excalibur 3500B Dehydrator.  My dad got me the Smokin-It #2 months ago so I would have time to practice.  My question is, how would smoked meats worked on the dehydrator? Has anybody done this before?  Looking for advice or suggestions on the possible use of the two.

Jake, I cannot really help with the dried meat part but I have smoked fresh peppers on a real low heat and then finish off in a dehydrator.  Turns out awesome.

Jake, I'm of the opinion that the dehydrator should only be used, in combination with the smoker, on cured jerky.  I suppose you can dehydrate fully-cooked meat, but not sure what the results will be like.  For jerky, I smoke at 140, and add the dryer, so the meat dries vs. cook.  Cured meat is the only safe way to do this (that whole botulism thing, and all).  This is a great way to finish jerky, if you don't have the jerky fan for the smoker!

Thank you all!  Wasn't sure how it would work.  Ill prob not worry about trying to smoke meats and then dehydrate them.
