Container question

I starting building my brine for my first smoke and I'm using a large blue speckled pot used for canning that has never been used for anything.  The meat is not in it yet. Is it ok for brining?  I searched around to no avail. Thanks.

CV, it will probably be OK as long as there are no breaks in the finish. Otherwise you will have salt reacting with steel. I got a briner and it works really well. Here's a link on Amazon to the smaller bucket: http://www.amazon.com/The-Briner-Jr-Ultimate-Container/dp/B00PL47Y3G/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1418859747&sr=1-4&keywords=the+briner

They make a larger one too, which is the one I got. Cheers.
