Cajun Grill, ordering new grill smoker!

I have been researching new grills for awhile and have decided on the Cajun Smoker from R&V Works. These babies are built like tanks and heat up to 750 degrees. Since there are only two of us, most likely go with the MODEL: CG-20" SMOKIN' CAJUN GRILL. I know a few folks have complained about the  shipping cost of their smoker, heck these babies cost $200.00 just to ship.

Link below if you are interested also a link to a you-tube video of their grills.

I will let you know when it arrives and my first grill out.

Greg,
Can't wait to hear your review. I got tired of grills falling apart so I got a Weber 17 years ago and it is still a solid grill.  It might never wear out or rust out. I watched the video and it looks very interesting especially the 750 degree. Not sure if I understand the burner.  Wonder how even it heats?

The burner is really cool, they started with fryers and even have a grill the goes to 1200 degrees!

This will replace my 11+ year old Bubba grill which is still kickin, it has a 16 lb cast iron burner.

I was in the same boat at you Dave. I went through several cheapo grills and a couple of mid-range grills and finally got my Weber Genesis that has been going strong for 10+ years. My only complaint is that it is one of the early models where they put the knobs on the top of the right shelf instead of in the front on the side. It totally eliminates the ability to use the right shelf. But if that is my biggest problem, I think I will be OK.

But back to the subject, I am looking forward to your review Greg

Well I just pulled the trigger and ordered the grill. Shipping weight is 342 lbs! .

Looks like it will arrive the week of April 20th, I will post once it arrives.

Man if we get a Hurricane I will either tie myself to the unit, or even better just get it :)

Greg

I resemble that remark about the shipping, lol.

I have a buddy who has one of their outdoor fryers and it's great, really well built. I think you're going to love that grill. Looking forward to your feedback on it. Enjoy!!

There fryers are incredible,, They sound like a jet taking off though,,, I was so impressed with them I had to make my own two basket fryer that attaches to the side of my reverse flow stick burner,,, If you guys are doing outside frying these are the best thing going and I dont see why there grills would be any different...

Do they go through the propane pretty fast or is it similar to other gas burners? The blow torch looks like it is running pretty hard.

Mine does, but not stupid fast.. but when I fire this up I'm usually cooking for a group of fifty area  and I will go through a bottle every few cooks..

I have a friend that has their 1200 degree unit that he uses for steaks. They also have some other really interested things like a Cajun Express Smoker. They claim ribs in 35 minutes and brisket in 2 hours!

So much for low and slow. And here I thought Myron Mixon's hot and fast at 375° was crazy!

That's a great-looking grill, Greg.  What is the depth of the 20"?  They give depth and width on the 2 others, but not on the 20.  Also, after watching the video, I wonder how that burner setup (with the visible flame through the holes on the ends) holds up in the wind?

I'm like Gregg - Weber Genesis 1100 still going strong since '97, but I'm looking to replace soon.  This grill is intriguing...

Think I'll pass on the 35 minute ribs, though! :o

The grill surface is 18x20, which should be large enough for pizzas also.

My new grill arrived late yesterday so last nights project was putting it together.

The packing was in no way half as good as Steve sends his smokers, but the steel is so heavy I am not sure it mattered.

Assembly was a bit of a pain, the manual from the web was not very well done, took about an hour or so to assemble.

I ran it last night for about 1.5 hours to burn off all the machine oil. When you turn this baby on and crank open the LP value it sound like a small jet!

Overall I am impressed, had it up to 600 degrees last night. I will plan to grill on it in the next day or so.

Told you mine was loud also,,I took mine camping and almost felt bad about making that much noise in the campground until people started coming by wanting samples of the fish and hush puppy's I was frying..lol
