Built-in Model 3

Has anyone done a built-in of the model 3 (or any other Smokin-it smoker for that matter)? If so, how much room do I need to give it on the sides and back to allow for airflow or whatever? Note: It will not be near any combustible materials.

I don't think airflow would be a problem.  Maybe a bit on the back and make sure you can pull it out to access the back panel if a problem arises.

You might also want to leave left side room so the door can open all the way.

If you stick in a left side corner (like you have pictured) you might not get the door all the way open i.e getting the racks in and out.

Put it on an end where the door can open up.

That was the first thing that popped out was it being on the left and door opening clearance.
The other item would be the height, now is the time to make the height correct.

Thanks all for your replies and tips. This forum is great.

Does the door need to open more than 90 degrees to get the racks out?

I have already built the grill framework. I can leave extra space on the left for door clearance, I just need to know how much I need. I will build the smoker base and size it to give me the width needed to open the door and the height to match my counter top. I guess the best thing for me to do would be to order the smoker and get it here to size everything exact.

Finished the build in. Works great. Door opens just past 90 degrees which gives enough clearance to get racks in and out. I've attached a couple of pictures (I think).

Cleaning not a problem. For repair I think I would have to pull it all the way out. I have sliders on the feet so it moves easily enough on the granite. Probably will be a 2 man job though. Hope I don't need to repair it often?
