Best Beach house "Grill" ???

Gents, a buddy of mine loans me his beach house all the time.  I had been planning to get him a model 1 or 2 and leave it there for a surprise. However, he told me today that his gas grill at the beach house is falling apart. He likes to keep it on the top deck close to the kitchen but it gets a lot of wind.  In the past, I have had difficulty just cooking hamburgers with the constant wind off the gulf... With the lid shut.

I was thinking of getting a charbroil infrared grill and putting it in his garage on the first floor.  But was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of something that would work on the top deck w wind?  What about one of those "Kegs" or others?  I'm looking to spend around 300-350.

What is your advice?

Hey Libo, I would go with your original plan and get a #1 or #2. As I have cooked hamburgers in my #1 and they turn out great. Not sure how they do in wind as my front porch is pretty covered. So it does not get a lot of wind. Not sure about the others you mentioned. And am sure he would be very happy with a SI.

Hey Libo, +1 on Bill's response. As for the Gasser.....The wind is not the culprit responsible for a grill falling apart. It's the salt in the air blowing in from the gulf. We have the same problem here in the northeast. I live about 1 miles from the Atlantic and when the wind blows in from the east I can smell the salt air. The salt causes premature rusting and I would expect the problem to be much worse along the gulf coast because of the higher salt content in the gulf.
If a grill is a must I would recommend a high end unit which is predominately stainless steel.

Thanks Guys!

I went out yesterday and looked at a ton of local sourced grills.  Even the Akorn egg, which I actually liked a lot.  However, I found a grill that is mostly stainless, although not a high grade stainless, it was the best in the price range I could find.  It's a NextGrill 4 burner SS (1000-712-465) from Home Depot for $269 and knock of 10% for the vet discount and not bad at all.  The grates were stainless and even the flame deflectors were stainless.  Which the Chargrill's infrareds didn't even have on the models under $400.  Let me know if anyone has any experience with the NextGrills.

Even with the salt air, I think he should be able to get a couple of seasons out of it.

Hey Libo, I wonder if a cover would keep the salt air from getting to the unit?

Was not sure if was left out on the upper deck or not? Hence the question about being with a cover.  ???

His current falling apart grill is left on the upper deck and has a cover.  That wind and salt is constant though.  Unless it's in a vacuum seal bag, I think anything around the coast gets a lot of salt.  I did recommend that he keep it in his garage and just walk downstairs to do his grilling.  When I build this one for him, I will leave it in his garage and see if it stays down there the next time we get to stay down there.

Hey Libo, just looked at this on Home Depot Site, the unit looks good, but seen several bad reviews, hope you get a good one. I normally change the reviews and just read from lowest to highest stars.
