Anyone applied a clear coat / Everbrite?

Curious if anyone has applied a clear coat such as Everbrite, and if so whether you have any comments/suggestions on application and how well it has held up.
As a new transplant to Chicagoland via way of Phoenix, this whole idea of rain and wind on a regular basis is new to me although I know that 'stainless' is a relative term.

I'm assuming you mean applying to outside of smoker.
If so, the smoker is stainless steel, and will not rust.  I also take pride in my #3 that I have had for a few years that shows signs of use and isn't perfectly shiny new. Helps me remember some good que that I have done.

I have a 3DW and keep it outdoors. There has been no rust whatsoever on it.

All,

Thank you for the responses!  Yep, was referring to the outside of the unit.  I know that even 316 Stainless can rust in certain conditions, but AZ was so dry it would never happen.  Was not sure about a more humid environment.

I think stainless steel only rusts if it is "seeded" with a molecule(s) of plain steel. I have stainless steel brewing pots and kegs that rust where they rubbed against the steel burners I used. Had to use a green scotch brite to clean all the rust off to get them to stop rusting.

So if you want to keep it shiny, use scotch brite pads to clean.
