Over on another site with a forum that deals with 'smoking meat' someone wants to switch from charcoal to electric.  Time to marshal the  SI troops and provide some sage advice. Don't let the aficionados of big box store smokers win.  Thanks.

Hey Sarge,

For me the new electric is the only way to go and this smoker rocks.

I have been watching any of the BBQ Pitmasters series lately, I am really amazed that many of the contestants are using tech in their smokers.

Greg,

No doubt about it, electric is the way to go. BUT,I think I should have said to head over to the other 'smoking meat forum' site and provide advice and comments there.

Greg,
I hope this doesn't cause any trouble:

I just went back a re-read my post over there and it appears that a mod edited it to remove links that I had to here, showing my comparison cooks. How rude and silly, people are strange! There was no need for that, I was just trying to show them how well the SIs work.

I also have had a few links bounced. The frown on anything that promotes a competing forum. However they support promoting Bbq and equipment. And in case you haven't noticed SMF is heavy on One particular brand of electric smoker, warts and all.

Yeah...they edited mine also!  I replied to Pineywoods, and told him that we frequently link to the SMF site, because BBQ is a community!  If a forum, or manufacturer's site, can't stand on its own, without fear of people being drawn away, it shouldn't!  I also pointed out that Jeff doesn't manufacture smokers, so it's not like we're a "direct competitor."  SMF stock just went down, a bit, in my portfolio.  I hate close-minded people! >:(

They don't mind links unless it is to another forum which was a reason for asking that the folks here help 'advertise' SI from a users viewpoint. Some prospective buyers will just not leave a forum and explore others. So thanks for all your efforts.
