I got my 3D last week and just got to season it today.Held temperature great, this is what I wanted. The only problem I had was I had a hard time setting cooking times. Is there a video about using PID? Hopefully I get to cook on Saturday.

Programming is pretty simple after a few uses.  Just keep the instructions handy.  In the meantime, give this a try. Short video with Steve.  And welcome to the forum!

D - head over to the Auber Instructions sections.  Auber Simple Start should help get you started.  I'm attaching the instructions for the model that your controller uses, also.

The PID controller settings will actually make sense, once you get it down that there are 3 variables, in each of the 6 "steps."

C0x  -  What box temp?
e0x  -  What's the "trigger?"  Time or internal meat temp (t or F)
t0x or F0x (depending on the trigger)  - How long or how much?  (how much time, or what internal temp?)

Each "step" repeats these three variables.  If you only need one, like for ribs (235 for 6 hours), you would keep steps 2-6 set to 0, time, and 0.  Only program the temps you need.  You can also use the pre-programmed "recipes."  Check the manual for the saved recipe section, and how to save your own.

I know the controller can be a bit intimidating, but once you use it a bit, you'll see it's actually pretty straightforward, when you understand the 3 pieces of information it needs to do its job.....box temp, trigger, and how much.

D-  I was also a bit confused by the PID controller when I first received my 3-D a few months ago. What helped me was to use the pre-programmed recipes (ribs and pork butt) for my first few smokes. I was really thrown off by the "H" error code message and the funky looking letters on the controller. However, the folks on this forum are a great help and after a few smokes the programmer just clicked for me ..

Don't hesitate to ask questions.. The pro's on this forum will answer them.

It does seem a little complicated a first but once you do it once or twice it is really easy.  Just remember for each setting it is smoker temp,  time or temperature, and then the value you want for time or temp.
