300F/5hr pork butt?

Has anyone tried Jeff's 300F pork butt experiment? https://www.smoking-meat.com/march-30-2019-five-hour-smoked-pork-butt
I'm going to tomorrow and was curious if anyone has tried a quick/fast smoke :-)
 
I've read on several forums that fast and hot is the way to go. I have never tried it and stick with tradition. But do let us know how it turns out.
 
300 ... here we go!
It’s set to run at 150F for 30mins then ramp to 300 fwiw :)

Well, that was short lived. Once the 3D got above 293 box temp the temp 1 is flashing AH1 and beeping non-stop. Power cycled and same result. I know these are supposed to go to 325 so not sure what the deal is yet.
 
Back in business. Did a search and found out the first batch of 3D’s were not programmed right for the higher temp. Changed AH1 to 375 and AH2 to 210 and I’m rocking on.
 
6hrs and 170F. Just foiled and back in for more 300F. So much for 5hrs.

203F just hit ... so not 5, but 8ish hours in my case.

After a 30min rest...moist, very tasty, and surprisingly a great smoke note!
I highly doubt I could tell any diff between my normal 225 smoke and this one if blindfolded. WiN!
Next time I’ll do the same, but not foil. I like a pretty hard crust you can’t really get with the Texas crutch. If the 2nd time works as well as this one did I’ll be doing 300F from here on.
I’m feeding my team at work tomorrow so I’ll get some unbiased feedback :)

Going to have to try it.  I had great results with a 275 brisket too.  I will have to try the hot smoke but now.
